SecondLife 2009
SecondLife - Teaching Project (2009)
Improvisation for two crowds - on being on and off-line
(funded by CETL, Queen's University Belfast)This project approached the concept of improvisation from two sets of practices: Music and Drama, and ON and Off-line (being in the virtual environment SecondLife and in a real life theatre space).
Two major figures and educators in the field of music and drama were invited:US based composer and improvisor Pauline Oliveros and UK based theatre director and author Chris Johnston (Fluxx company).
The project enabled students from diverse backgrounds to work together in the context of improvisation.

Some comments from our avatars:Barry Bohemian: "It reinforced my love for improvisation! Everything on stage comes as a surprise"
Barry Bohemian: "Some of the drama students in the audience said they particularly enjoy the interaction between actor and avatar, like that was most peoples favortie bit."
Kristoff Adder: "I think the greatest thing was actually thinking about SecondLife, ...the mixed reality strategies have great potential"
